What’s the difference between a N95 and a KN95 respirator?

The bottom line is that N95 respirators are manufactured in the United States, whereas KN95 respirators are manufactured in China.
In China, the government requires KN95 manufacturers to run a special mask fit test on real humans with ≤ 8% leakage. On the other hand, the N95 mask standard does not require manufacturers to run fit tests. KN95 respirators must comply with more tests to assure their efficacy and distribution in the United States; which means that they are strictly proven to be as safe -if not more- than N95 masks.
